Legend

Agarwood is the type of tropical tree in South and Southeast Asia or the official name is aquilaria tree. Also known as aloeswood,eaglewood,krissana,gaharu in Malaysia,jinko in Japan,oud in the Middle east, chen-xiang in Chaina.  The oud oil is derived from the black resin from the heartwood which is infected with mold. The ants and other insects attack the tree and then the agarwood tree will generate the black resin to remedy itself. It takes many years until the black resin occurring will be ready completely to distill. The black resin in each of tree is dissimilar because it depends on the areas and type of agarwood tree.

Its legend has such a long legend of thousands years. It is assumed that agarwood using started from the Sanskrit era. The people believe that oud oil is gift from GOD so there is the sentence that ‘the first group of people who will enter paradise, will be glitter like the most brilliant star in the sky. They will not urinate, relieve nature, spit, or have any nasal secretions. Their comb will be of gold, and their sweat will smell like musk. The aloes-wood will be used in their centers..’  At first time was founded in Arabia’snormadic laventine tribes who would burn chips for aroma the air and protect them from the insects or bad spirits. Nowadays the Middle East people are in favor of burning bakhor (chips) for the fragrance in their house or wedding ceremony. Moreover it is the symbols the rich in the Middle East because of its very high price. In the present it is rare to find the forest agarwood trees which are also resulted from CITES rules and the high demand of oud oil in the market.

With its exquisite and complex scent, the popularity of oud oil is expanded to the west in recent time. We can see from the famous fragrance brands have produced oud fragrances and they are popular among the European.
